The Gumbo Diner

Galveston meets New Orleans at the Gumbo Diner, which offers southern breakfast staples, chicken & waffles, burgers, Texas Gulf fried shrimp, and, of course, gumbo in “Lil Daddy” and “Big Daddy” sizes. Save room for the fresh beignets too!

Dannay Doughnuts

They open at 4:30am and are our favorite place to grab a quick breakfast or snacks for the beach. They offer more than just donuts. Try their kolaches, croissants, breakfast tacos, and biscuits, too!

Gypsy Joynt

The interior of this hidden gem is eclectic and there’s always a lively crowd. We recommend the sweet potato jives, fried brussels sprouts, sleazy mac, and pizzas. Their desserts are amazing, too!

Mosquito Cafe

At Mosquito Café you’ll find eclectic, trendy food, a warm casual atmosphere, and friendly service. Voted best overall restaurant, best breakfast, and best business lunch by Galveston residents, you can’t go wrong any time of day here!

The Salty Bovine Pit House

Be sure to enjoy the views and a drink on their large covered patio or catch a football game inside! Nick’s also has an outdoor watering hole, the Redfish Pool Bar, where you can jump in and cool off from the Texas heat.

Rita’s & Cream

Everyone deserves a sweet treat on their vacation! Cool down at this family-owned business with daiquiris for the adults and snow cones or ice cream for the kids. Make it extra special with a chocolate dipped cone and sprinkles.

Steve’s Landing Restaurant

Enjoy breathtaking views at this waterside restaurant that offers both traditional dishes and seafood with a twist. Craving something unique? Try the crab rangoons with mango chutney, the shrimp tikka with grits, or the coconut fish curry.

Shrimp ‘N Stuff:

Shrimp-N-Stuff definitely rivals Darlene’s when it comes to shrimp, and we love their dog-friendly patio when the weather is nice. We recommend all of their shrimp dishes (shrimp gumbo, fried shrimp, fresh shrimp, etc.).

Tiki Bar and Grill

Popular for both visitors and locals alike, Tiki has a laid back vibe and dishes and drinks of all kinds to satisfy your cravings. Get their “Karen’s Special”, which is half of a grilled pineapple with shrimp smothered in mozzarella!
