Where to Eat in Kemah

One of the oldest seafood joints in Kemah, Joe Lee’s has been serving some of the best seafood platters in town for decades. Make your own combo (fried or grilled), or come for Taco Tuesday for $1.99 fish or shrimp tacos.

Gilhooley’s offers indoor and outdoor seating and a vast menu, though they are best known for their oysters. Their flame grilled “oysters Gilhooley” are a must. The restaurant is for ages 18+ , so save it for an adults night out!

Bakkhus is a small Greek family-style restaurant that serves Greek and American fare with a southern twist. Think chipotle hummus, burgers with Greek toppings, and Gulf shrimp pita sandwiches. You must try something with fire feta!

You can always rely on The Wooden Spoon for a solid Southern-style lunch. Pig out on one of their burgers or opt for a large salad. Don’t forget to finish it off with a slice of pie!

Village Pizza and Seafood If you’re in the La Porte area, this restaurant is one of few places open later in the evening. They’re best known for their pizza but also offer other Italian dishes, subs, and seafood (you’re on the Gulf Coast after all!).

Topwater Grill has been a local gem for over 20 years. They have their own fleet of shrimp and oyster boats to serve you some of the freshest seafood from the Gulf. Bring your own catch, and they’ll cook it for you for $13.99.

For over 30 years, Tookie’s has been serving up super sized beef patties, made fresh daily, and fresh-cut locally grown produce. Kick off your meal with pelican eggs and wash it all down with a Cookie Monster Oreo shake for dessert!

Featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Drives, this upbeat venue offers live music alongside American classics, barbecue, and Southern sides. We recommend the armadillo eggs, chicken fried steak, and, of course, their hand cut steaks!

Rest under the huge palapas at this quaint bar with a beer or glass of wine in hand while you watch the sunset over the bay. You can fish on the pier for $5, and they have finger piers to park your boat if you come by water!

Skallywag’s specializes in craft beer and what they call “Southern fusion pub grub”. Get your own artisanal sandwich or share some appetizers, like their Skally wings and mac n’ cheese balls. We love the spacious patio and open windows.

Thai food may not be the first thing that comes to mind in Kemah, but this spot has become a favorite for locals and visitors alike! In addition to Thai classics, they offer a full bar and have TVs for sports.

This hole-in-the-wall taco joint is located at a gas station and is open as early as 5am. It’s the place to go in the area for your breakfast taco fix. Our favorites are the brisket taco and chorizo and egg taco!

Crazy Alan’s has a huge menu,including spicy Cajun seafood, juicy hamburgers, and mouth-watering T-Bone steaks. Delicious crawfish is served year-round. Sit on the deck and enjoy the live music at this fun, family-friendly restaurant.

When you need to cool off, make a pit stop here for the finest handcrafted ice cream in town! They serve both unique featured flavors and ice cream classics. We can’t resist a decadent slice of their s’mores ice cream pie.

Open Monday-Saturday for lunch, Colonial House of Sandwiches has been serving cold sandwiches with the freshest ingredients in the area since 1981. Their chicken salad sandwich and sweet tea are a must.
