More About the Area
Galveston, Texas is a charming Southern retreat just 50 miles from Houston. It’s a destination full of art, historic architecture, chic boutiques, ghost legends, and more – all tucked within a quaint Gulf Coast barrier island with 32 miles of beaches.
Given the long, narrow shape of the Island, Galveston has different sections locally referred to as the East End, and the West End. The East End features historic homes dating back to the late 1800’s, along with all of the shops and restaurants on The Strand, the famous Galveston Seawall, and the cruise ship terminal, which is now the largest in the country.
The West End of Galveston Island features classic beach homes built on pilings, with homes along the beach and Galveston Bay. The West End is home to a large number of beach communities, including Beachside Village, Indian Beach, Jamaica Beach, Pirates Beach, Sea Isle and Terramar Beach.
