“This place is ideal for large families or multi-family groups. Kitchen was VERY well-equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed all 3 levels of deck space! Responsiveness to inquiries was almost immediate - best in 10 years of home rentals! All bedrooms have a small en-suite except the downstairs bunkroom. Most beds were pretty soft, so if you have back issues, arrive early to claim an upstairs bed. Upstairs closets have been converted to bunks, so limited storage there. Outside seating is either tall wooden chairs (comfy!) or wooden picnic tables, but there are several (BYO for alternatives). Climbing stairs is part of the daily routine - those with knee issues may have trouble. Bathrooms are functional, not luxury, but that's not why you're there. Neighborhood is quiet during the week, and locals were friendly. Having a boat slip was amazing, and being on the canal was fun for fishing! Local markets are well stocked with sundries. Blvd Seafood & Gumbo Diner are our favorite restaurants in town.”

“My stay was very short, but well worth it. We had a small family gathering for my 16 year old who loves sunsets. The place accommodated 11 of us easily. We were able to fish and relax on the deck. Beautiful place… the only down side was bed in the bedroom near the kitchen. My parents said it felt like it caved inwards so they didn’t rest well. Thank you Chris for being so quick to respond and allowing us to bring my daughter’s birthday in amongst family on the beach!”

“The Big Kahuna was definetely the perfect house to stay with a large group family/friends. We love that all the bedrooms has its own bathroom. The house was really spacious that all of us there 9 adults, 3 children, and 2 dogs has room to move around without bumping each other. Our children love the bunkbeds bedroom downstairs. The neighborhood were quite and peaceful. The beach is less than 5mnts of a drive. Chris is also a very great host! He is proactive and very responsive with messages. “This was a great place to stay for 3 days. It’s located in a private neighborhood right across from Jamaica beach. Fishing from the canal is fun and you can catch a lot of fish from the property itself. There were a few repairs needed but overall this was a great place to stay. I would definitely visit again if the host were to allow. Use shrimp or squid and fish at the bottom and you will catch fish. Small hooks work best.”

“The Big Kahuna is a lovely house. We all enjoyed it. There was plenty of room for the large group we had. We had a blast fishing and playing board games. The kitchen was massive where we had plenty of room to move around to cook. This is our second time renting the Big Kahuna. We love this place.”

“The house is in a great location on the West End of Galveston. The neighborhood is well kept, has a community pool, provides quick access to the beach and is waterfront on a large canal. The overall layout of the house is great for large families. There are plenty of beds and the kitchen and family area are big enough to accommodate larger groups. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that the house needs some minor maintenance. Nothing major, but be sure to bring extra essentials like paper towels, trash bags and beach chairs & toys.”
