The parking is good and with the gate closed very private. I would recommend this place for a stay. The weather was too cool for us to check out the pool but it was sparkling clean.”

“Our stay at the Canal House was perfect for our family of 10. The home was spacious and welcoming, easily accommodating both our family and our pets’ outdoor needs. The pool was amazing—clean, refreshing, and a favorite gathering spot.We loved the two covered porches—one in the front and one in the back—and the deck had plenty of seating for everyone to relax and enjoy the breeze.Communication with management was excellent. They responded promptly to all inquiries before and during our stay, which gave us peace of mind. I particularly appreciated their thoughtful response to my concerns about past reviews mentioning refrigerator issues. We brought extra coolers just in case, but there were zero problems. In fact, the additional small fridge was a great bonus—we used it for drinks.One important note for future guests: during our stay, a double high tide—combined with a strong north wind—caused the water to rise 8 to 10 inches over the lower deck. Thankfully, we had only left chairs and a few fishing rods out, none of which were swept away. It didn’t rain, so this was purely a tidal event. It would be helpful for guests to be made aware of the potential for rising water in the Jamaica Beach area, especially during certain weather conditions.The Canal House exceeded our expectations in every way. We will definitely return. ”

“The house needs some maintenance especially on the top deck. The WI-FI is very intermittent (this might just be the area). The primary bedroom has great water pressure. The rest of the house not so much. Many guests had to shower in primary restroom. The water in the kitchen was very low and never got really hot. Chris is very responsive and helpful! He checked on us via text after our arrival and made sure we knew how to get in touch with him. Would definitely rent from Chris again!”

“The house was great for our readers retreat, With many beds to accommodate everyone in our group to have their own bed. It was a group of 10 and not all beds were used. One room on the lower level was hot, it had an AC window unit. It did not bother us because no one slept in there but I went in there several times and it was hot in there each time. Two rooms were on the lower level separate fromThe house with its own entrance. That was sort of a downer for us because we wanted to be together, but it was OK. I must’ve missed that part in the description of the house, but it wasn’t a dealbreaker besides that the house is perfect for any questions and concerns I had I got a quick response from host. I would love to stay here again in the summer if they fix the AC unit in that hot room because I loved the amount of vets it has. I would recommend for big families and groups.”

“We had an amazing weekend at this rental! The property manager was extremely communicative and responsive after booking, prior to check-in, during our stay, and after check-out. The home was absolutely beautiful and spaciously accommodated our big family! I loved that we were able to have everyone under one roof. The kids enjoyed the amenities. The multiple decks and swimming pool were a huge bonus! Plenty for the family to do. The neighborhood was nice, clean and safe! Perfect location for families. We loved our stay at this home and definitely plan to return!”

“I had a large group of 10 staying the night prior to a cruise out of Galveston the following morning. The house was PERFECT!! It was clean, comfortable, and so cute! We just wish the rainy, cold weather weren’t a factor as we would have loved to spend time out by the pool or the beautiful decks. The house was wonderful and our host was very quick to answer my questions. A wonderful experience!!”

A couple of miscommunications only happened from the listing offering a firepit and there wasn't one and one part of the listing saying the max amount of people was 9 and another saying 14. Beautiful space, nice decor and our favorite was the back deck with the tall chairs. Wish there was 2 dining room tables in the same space so we could all eat together, but we made it work.”

“great house . but guest shower backs up and has some mold around the shower. also my 5 year old found a opened glass beer bottle under the sofa that didn't belong to us. some of the outside lights were not working. other than that the house is great . now for fishing it is NOT a great location. we tried to fish behind the water behind the houe NOT 1 bite did we get for the 4 nights that we were there for.”

“This place was fantastic. We had a large party and it had way more beds than what we even needed. Everything we needed for our stay was there. The balcony was beautiful. Fuzz ball table kept the little one entertained. We did have to get in contact with Sam because the key wasn’t in the lock box as it was supposed to be but she got in contact with me within minutes and got us access to another key to get inside. We will be staying here again and I recommend you do as well!”

The only reason I marked 4 stars on cleanliness was the floor was dirty but I’m sure it’s hard to keep up with all the sand. Everything else was clean. Well established company staybeachbox hosts the place they have several listings so they know what they are doing and have great communication & clear instructions.”

“Being originally from the Northeast and having spent many a week or weekend in a “beach house” on Cape Cod, this rental was exactly as expected. The moment I walked in, the “beach house” feel from my past came back immediately and it felt like home. Being located on a canal was also a wonderful experience, with beautiful views and peacefulness. I would not hesitate to rent this property again.”

“Plenty of parking, there's a great amount of beds, privacy was perfect. There is plenty of areas to just chill. Few things to bring: can opener if you're cooking anything in can, an extension cord long-the TV downstairs outside at the picnic table was not plugged in nor near a plug. Be careful on the deck while fishing there are like 2 boards on the low side that I almost fell in because they go all the way down in the water. If you use k-pods bring your Keurig. OH and quite a few outlets upstairs are not working, so find the ones that do and use those. Host was very helpful and everything was good , I'll be staying again in November so I'm prepped on what to bring.”

“The house was nice yet needed more repair. The boat slip needs work - no lights and tie-downs. There were some loose boards around the decking and one of the kiddos had to catch herself to keep from going in the canal. The shower door on the first floor actually fell off when attempting to use (son caught door or it would have shattered). Maintenance came (quickly) and added a shower curtain so we could at least use the shower. The washing machine was moldy (had been left closed too long). Some of the kitchen cabinets and drawers did not close all the way (again needing repair). The pool was nice to have (really enjoyable) and believe once a few things are fixed, then will be a good airbnb.”

“Pro’s: Great location for fishing. LOTS of rooms and beds. Multiple good TV’s. Covered and uncovered decks with lots of seating. Decorated well, with lots of kitchen utensils available. Cons: one bedroom was missed in cleaning and laundry; toe nails, hair and hair ties in the sheets. Low water pressure and poor hot water in 2 of 3 showers. One trash bag was all we got. AC unit was blowing out black wet dirt in 2 bedrooms. Dishwasher is not mounted to counter (falls open to ground when opened). Ice maker has no water supply. Instructions were not given for entry code, ( I figured my way in). We had a good time in any case.”

“Overall house and location were good but floors were extremely dirty, multiple cigarette butts on inside patio and outside deck and a used band aid stuck on the pool. Not sure this house was cleaned after the previous use. ”

“Great canal beach house for our Book Club Meeting. Room for everyone in spite of not using the 2 bedrooms outside downstairs. We had the food catered in and made mararitas, discussed books and played board games. The only problem was there was no key in lockboxes and we could not get in with caterer to set up food on time. Had to wait on a maintenance man to let us in, he then had to go make keys and bring them back. I only wish the listing had stated that 2 of the bedrooms are not accessible from upstairs and that you have to go outside to get to them, otherwise everything was as stated in the listing.”

“My husband and I had a wonderful time during our stay. When we booked it there were no reviews so we truly had no idea what to expect. We very much enjoyed the dock; some of the boards were missing, but we spent a lot of time out there and on the porch swing. The upper and lower levels of the house are not connected; at least that we could find. We didn’t utilize the lower level so for us it was a non issue, but I figure for families it might be nice to know. The area was nice and peaceful. The covered porch is beautiful and nice to be out on.”
