“The property was in excellent condition and the location was perfect! The beach was minutes away walking as well as a local little grocery store that was very well stocked. Beds were very comfortable and the rooms were spacious. The best part is that there were enough places to sit for the number of guests that the property could hold. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to cook and serve. There were plenty of towels for the number of people as well as a new washer and dryer, if needed. The outside space was perfect for playing games, hanging out, and cooking and eating outside. I cannot say enough about the host’s communication and the property condition. It was an excellent time and I highly recommend.”

“This is a great place for a couple of families to meet during Fall Break! It is a bit off season, so restaurants have little to no wait, and the beach is not full. This is a quick easy walk to the beach. The accommodations are nice. You can make a cup of coffee and sit on the deck and watch the ocean waves come in or listen and watch the waves under the moonlight. ”

“This is our fourth time to stay here, sometimes just us and sometimes with additional family members, and we wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. The home is inviting, very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is very well appointed for dining in or on the large, upstairs deck-plenty of seating for all in either space. I particularly love that bathrooms have enough towel racks and/or hooks for each person’s towel. The location is perfect-literally a very short walk to the beach and a beautiful, unobstructed view of the ocean from the upstairs deck. We love it here! ”

“The Paunchy Pelican is the perfect beach getaway for families or groups!The home is spacious, ultra clean, and the furnishings and decor are really comfortable, cozy, peaceful, and make you feel right at home while knowing you're away from it all.Our family loved that there were plenty of beds, the kitchen was well-appointed, there's plenty of beach gear available, and the check out process was super easy.Most importantly you are one block off the beach, you can see the water from house, and Jamaica Beach is far enough out of Galveston that you don't feel any kind of crowdedness - it is really peaceful. But you are still close enough to take easy advantage of restaurants, shopping, etc. in town.We loved our stay and know you will too!”

The home was clean and they did provide towels and a fully stocked kitchen which was nice so we did not have to bring as much or buy extra stuff we did not really need. “Beautiful location and view! 1 minute walk from the beach. Easy check in, responsive and pleasant messaging from host. On the ground floor outdoor shower clean and perfectly functional, though mesh covered room a bit untidy but did have some kids toys and table. Outdoor space on the 1st floor was clean with plenty of seating.Inside was very tidy, mostly clean, and spacious. Did not see any ants or cockroaches per previous reviews so maybe seasonal or corrected by host. Had basic amenities per the list. Electronics like tv, wifi, fridge, stove, and AC all worked perfectly. Check out was easy and simple. Would go again!”

“The swings under the deck were nice. There was plenty of places to sit and relax. The beds were very comfortable. Even the bunk beds. The only things I would suggest is to clean all the dishes and shelves and drawers in the kitchen. I felt like I had to wash everything before we used it. Also there was a few dead roaches and one alive roach and spider. ”

“This is a lovely home, just steps from the beach. Perfect size for two families to stay together. Large deck and a lot of outdoor space. Good price for the location! Only downside was the cleanliness was not up to par. But since it was so close to the beach we didn’t mind as much. ”

“The house was spacious & the beds comfortable. The floors did need to be mopped as the bottom of your feet turned black when walking around house barefoot. A large cockroach or water bug was seen & killed in the kitchen. Yuck but understand how that can happen. Overall we had a good time & only real complaint was the dirty floors. ”
