The home itself is positioned on the Main Street so it is not safe for children to be outside in the front part of the home. However, it more than makes up for it at the back of the home because it has an enclosed parking area and a pool which of course is fun for the kids. We would definitely stay here again.”

Galveston’s signature holiday festival turns the Strand Historic District into Victorian England from December 4 to 6, 2026. Expect costumed characters, parades, carolers, holiday shopping and plenty of food. Go early on Saturday for the best people watching, and stay downtown so you can walk in and skip the parking.

Holiday in the Gardens at Moody Gardens
From November 21, 2026 to January 2, 2027, Moody Gardens lights up every night from 6 to 10 PM with more than two million lights along the Holiday Lights Trail, plus outdoor ice skating and seasonal shows. It runs through New Year’s, so it fits any trip date.

ICE LAND: Caribbean Christmas
This year’s ICE LAND at Moody Gardens trades the North Pole for a tropical island holiday, with hand-carved ice sculptures inside a nine degree tent, a giant ice slide and an ice bar to warm up after. Parkas are provided, but closed-toe shoes are a good idea.
