Steep Discounts for Galveston Snowbirds This Winter

Each winter, Galveston Island welcomes a migration of snowbirds— our affectionate term for our visitors from the north who come to our shores seeking warmer temperatures and sunny skies. And who can blame them? Galveston is mild and lovely throughout the winter— with temps that require a light jacket in the evenings but allow you to leave the heavy winter parka and snow boots at home.

Winter in Galveston: Smaller Crowds, Bigger Fun

Locals love Galveston in the winter as well— it’s a well-known local secret that Galveston comes alive in the wintertime. No lines, less traffic, and smaller crowds make any winter getaway to Galveston more peaceful and relaxing. You can even take a serene walk along a nearly empty beach and enjoy the calm beauty of the shore without the crowds. You’ll be walkin’ in a winter wonderland— just without the snowdrifts and blustery winds.

At BeachBox, we adore all of Galveston’s seasons, but winter allows us a special opportunity to offer some truly magnificent discounts. In fact, when you book a stay at one of our Galveston vacation rental homes for seven or more nights this winter, you’ll save 20-30% off of your reservation.

Beautiful homes like Coastal Haven have space for the whole gang— up to 25 guests— and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the coastal backdrop. Located in Indian Beach, you’ll have easy beach access just a few homes away plus five private bedrooms and beautiful living and dining spaces.

Sunset Bay places you right on the sparkling bay with water views from nearly every room. There’s sleeping space for twenty, plus a private boat dock for fishing, crabbing, or tying up your water toys with ease. Enjoy the lovely winter water views from your screened-in porch as you sip a mug of hot cocoa.

Exciting Galveston Winter Events

Although the crowds may be lighter, the action in Galveston in the winter months is still very much alive. Just like last year, Galveston Restaurant Week occupies the entire month of February— from February 1 to February 28, 2022. Over 40 local restaurants will be participating in this mouth-watering, month-long event this year, that sets out to showcase the unique flavor of Galveston.

Billed as a “culinary adventure,” participants will have the opportunity to take advantage of some delicious tasting menus at delectable price points. The event was a huge hit in 2021 and we’re excited to see it again this year. Reservations are recommended— so make sure to plan ahead and “celebrate delicious” with our award-winning local favorite eateries.

For those that love a good party, Mardi Gras Galveston kicks off on February 18 and ends on March 1, 2022. In true Mardi Gras form, Galveston is filled to the brim with exhilarating music, dynamic dancing, parades, beads, and endless entertainment. You can purchase tickets to watch the festivities from a balcony or even ride a parade float!

“Laissez les bon temps rouler!” (Let the good times roll!)

The Grand Opera House has an impressive roster of wintertime acts this year— so if you haven’t seen a show at this stunning concert location, this year may be the year to rectify that. In December, The Grand will host the family-favorite Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol and The Temptations. Then in January, The Oak Ridge Boys stop by for two shows. Buy tickets early and don’t miss an enchanted evening at this historic theater.

Steep Discounts for Winter Guests

With our warm Gulf of Mexico waters and sandy beaches, Galveston was built for summertime fun. But don’t let that summer vibe fool you— Galveston in the wintertime is just as enjoyable.

The temps are still mild, with a bit of a chill in the evenings. So make sure to pack a sweatshirt and book a house with a fire pit for roasting marshmallows. The crowds thin out and the beaches become more peaceful and quiet— and perfect for relaxing and recharging. All of our homes are equipped with lightning-fast WIFI for completing any remote or school projects as well.

And remember— BeachBox stays longer than seven days in January or February 2022 will receive steep discounts of 20% to 30% off your reservation charge.
