Expect a more bring your own beach day. Services are limited compared to managed beach parks, so plan to bring your own water, shade, and supplies, plus trash bags to pack everything out.
San Luis Pass is known for dangerous water conditions. Plan your visit around land based activities and avoid entering the water near the Pass. Conditions can change quickly, and even strong swimmers can be pulled into dangerous currents.
Expect wind, strong sun, and sudden weather shifts. Wind matters here, so use sturdy anchors for shade and bring a backup plan if it is too windy. Spring through fall is busiest, while winter is quieter and great for long walks and shell hunting.
