2 New Locations to Explore on the Texas Gulf Coast

At BeachBox, it’s our mission to provide you with safe, clean, and beautiful homes all along the Texas Gulf Coast. We have homes in historic downtown Galveston, where you can walk to restaurants, shopping, museums, and even the theater. We also have homes that are right on the beach, where you can step down off your deck and into the sand. Or if a home with a private pool is what you’re after— we have those too.

As part of our mission, we also love introducing you to new areas and homes that you might want to add to your Galveston getaway repertoire. This month, we have two new places to share with you that we’re so excited about— San Leon and Crystal Beach on Bolivar Peninsula. Each one is a bit removed from our usual home inventory on Galveston Island, but we think you’ll find that each of these special spots has its own unique appeal.

San Leon

Located about 25 miles north of Galveston, San Leon sits on a peninsula that reaches out into Galveston Bay. Known in the past for its fig trees and thriving fishing industry, today San Leon has a lovely, timeless quality and spacious backstreets that are lined with palm trees.

Part of the recent appeal of San Leon is a popular local restaurant called Pier 6 Oyster House. With a “tide to table” mentality, Pier 6 has been collecting rave reviews and attracting guests from all over— including Houston and Galveston. Kick back on their waterfront terrace and enjoy a craft cocktail and fine dining fare like fresh-shucked oysters, pan-seared grouper, or a blue crab grilled cheese.

From San Leon, it’s also just a quick drive north to the exciting Kemah marina and boardwalk, featuring tons of family-friendly activities and mouth-watering restaurants.

BeachBox is excited to introduce to you these two new properties, each located in San Leon.

The Salty Texan

Perched right on the shore of gorgeous Galveston Bay, The Salty Texan will quickly become your family’s new favorite home base on the Gulf Coast. You’ll have your very own private fishing pier, plus a beautiful, free-form swimming pool, too.

The Salty Texan is super-roomy, with four bedrooms and four full bathrooms. There’s even a game room and a fire pit. Bring the whole family to this San Leon hideaway home— and make some truly unforgettable bayfront vacation memories together.

Tranquil Bay

Also on the shore of the bay lies Tranquil Bay, a beautifully decorated home with space for 16 people to comfortably spread out yet stay close together, too. Perfect for large family gatherings.

Take a stroll out onto your very own private fishing pier with boat slip and catch your dinner— or simply relax with a cold drink and enjoy the refreshing open water breezes that come in off the bay. Your crew will love the garage game room with a ping pong table, foosball, and arcade games, and the huge, sun-drenched deck for working on your tan. Tranquil Bay is a picture-perfect home-away-from-home in San Leon.

Crystal Beach

You’ll have to drive down Highway 87 or hop on the ferry from Galveston to make it to Crystal Beach on Bolivar Peninsula, but trust us— it’s worth the trip. This super-popular local beach spot is a gorgeous place to spend your next Texas Gulf Coast getaway.

Crystal Beach is a long stretch of wide, sugary-soft sand that’s ideal for strolling or making sandcastles. And although not as jam-packed with restaurants and shops as Galveston is, the relaxing, laid-back vibe of Crystal Beach still offers plenty of spots for breakfast or dinner— like the local favorite Tiki Beach Bar & Grill.

Take a peek inside our new BeachBox property located in beautiful Crystal Beach.

Sugar Sands

Recently remodeled from top to bottom, virtually everything about Sugar Sands is brand new— from the furniture to the mattresses to the appliances! This three-bedroom home in the heart of Crystal Beach is a short walk away from the sugary sand and surf.

Tucked into a quiet local neighborhood and surrounded by lush, manicured lawn, your group will love the sunny deck space and comfy living area. There’s space for 13 at Sugar Sands— so bring the whole gang!
